Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing and executing Eddy Current Testing (ECT) and Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) operations to ensure the quality and integrity of metal components. This role requires supervision of a team of NDT technicians and coordination with production, quality, and customer audit teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise day-to-day operations of ECT and MPI inspection for finished and semi-finished products (shafts, rings, flanges, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with NDT standards (ASME, ASTM, IS, etc.) and customer-specific requirements.
• Conduct training and guidance for technicians and junior inspectors on proper ECT-MPI procedures.
• Review and approve inspection reports, ensuring accurate defect identification and documentation.
• Perform root cause analysis for defect trends and initiate preventive actions.
• Coordinate with production, machining, forging, and QA/QC teams to ensure timely inspection flow.
• Maintain calibration and maintenance records of NDT equipment.
• Support internal and external audits (ISO, IATF, customer audits).
• Ensure safety and housekeeping standards in the NDT area.
• Develop and implement SOPs and inspection criteria for new products or revised processes.
Qualifications:
• Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical / Metallurgy / Production Engineering.
• NDT Level II (or higher) certification in ECT and MPI (mandatory).
• Minimum 5–8 years of hands-on experience in ECT/MPI, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of forged/machined steel components and associated defect types.
• Good command of reporting tools, interpretation of NDT results, and customer specs.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and other quality systems.
